Our Wildlife History

Wildlife landscape services has been the cornerstone of our company from the very beginning. Brian Sheppard’s extensive knowledge of food plots, deer management and habitat restoration came from many years of working with the best wildlife biologists and landowners throughout the country. Brian started his wildlife education working as an apprentice for Dr Gary Schwarz on Tecomate Ranch in south Texas. He learned how dry land farming of drought tolerant legumes along with habitat management and supplemental feeding could increase the quality and health of whitetail deer and other species. He took this knowledge to the southeast where he has taught landowners and conservationists how to perfect food plot farming while overcoming the challenges of poor soil fertility, weed competition and high deer density grazing pressure.  Brian was the southeast sales rep for Tecomate Wildlife Systems from 1999-2006 and a hunting guide on Tecomate Ranch from 1999-2010. He also was a regular editorial contributor to the Quality Deer Management Associations Quality Whitetails magazine writing articles about food plots, forages and herbicides, farming equipment and techniques, and tracking dogs.

In 2005 Brush Clearing Services was established to provide mechanical mastication services for wildlife and endangered species habitat restoration. Brush Clearing Services has restored thousands of acres of waterfowl, quail, deer, and red cockaded woodpecker habitat throughout the country. The BCS arsenal of dedicated forestry mulching equipment along with highly skilled operators makes for a very productive combination. We work closely with wildlife biologists, government agencies and private landowners to develop a plan to determine and prescribe the best clearing treatment application.  From the piney woods of the southeast, the bottomlands of Arkansas, and the prairies of south Texas Brush Clearing Services has left its footprint in helping preserve and restore habitat for generations to come.
